The maildrop will forward and accept messages while the computer is off.
This is one of the advantages of putting existing ROM code to work.
The tnc can be used as a personal maildrop, or set to handle 3rd party
(station A sends to B using C's ROM PBBS system). You can also setup
a maildrop on AMTOR.
AEA TNCs: Kantronics TNCs:
To turn on your maildrop: MAIL ON PBBS n (n in K-Bytes)
Multimode Controllers only:
For the AMTOR Maildrop: TMAIL ON ARQBBS ON
Same as Pactor maildrop
MYMAIL callsign-n -- It helps to have a callsign SSID different
than MYCALL. This will allow you to leave the maildrop on all the time.
People can connect to your "live" connect or to the maildrop.
HOMEBBS callsign (AEA ONLY) -- Callsign (no SSID) of the BBS that will
be accessing your PBBS for forwarding. I set mine to KB6GFT
Kantronics TNCs do this automatically.
KILONFWD ON -- (AEA ONLY) Messages FROM you are deleted after forwarding.
Kantronics kills forwarded messages automatically.
3RDPARTY ON (AEA), or PBPERSON ON (Kantronics) -- Allows messages
between two other stations. This defaults to OFF, disallowing other
station to use your maildrop as a small BBS.
No computer needs to be left on. You will see a blinking LED on your
TNC if you have incoming messages. Contact your local BBS operator to see
if the sysop will arrange for auto forwarding to your personal BBS.
Use [ALT-F8] to access the maildrop. Follow instructions in AEA manual
or Kantronics manual, or use the Help system, type MAIL [F1]
